I suppose that in the interest of full disclosure that one of Frankie's friends suggested Gooper, but I'm not sure it's a finalist.

I vote for Harper, and I actually have reasoning...
I have noticed that dogs often live up (or down) to their names... Bonnie & Clyde were notorious killers. Tank was a friggin' bull in a china shop. Marigold is a delicate flower, afraid of her shadow.
But if you name them somethng that doesn't have any connotation, you're not subconsciously putting any crazy gangster vibe on them or whatever. With Rufus, I'm afriad you'd end up with a big stupid dog that trips over its own feet and drools for entertainment.
On the other hand, Harper is both cool and dignified... and doesn't conjure images of saliva.
Oh, and nothing should ever be named Gooper.
Yeah, Gooper made me rethink what I've heard about Berkeley's admission standards...
Chance is also being considered.
Interesting... I don't know TPFKAD, and I really like the name Harper - but when you said Chance, I felt like that was HIM, you know?
But that's just me and, as we know, I named a dog for beer... and I don't even like beer. Oy.

Hey, here's a name that would help the smart factor - name him for UCB... call him Berkeley. Or Cal.
There's a weiner dog (can't spell dachshound?) on the block already named Berkeley. There are also two Lews (Lew and Lu Lu) a Lucy, a Jade, Sassy, Stinker and Duke.
We could be clever and call him Sather or something, I suppose... Or Fourth in the Pac 10...
We have Koji, Cody, Coco, Beatrix, Tasha, Emily and Abigail on our street.
Whatever you choose, he's gorgeous. I do like Chance though ... wink.
I think I'll call him Flash until I hear otherwise. TPFKAD is too long and unweildy.
I still like Chance, too. I suggested Doug yesterday, on the theory of circling around to where we began, but there's a brother-in-law Doug already and we're trying to avoid the confusion.
