There was the plan to rebuild a non-running Honda CB750 into a cafe racer that never got past the non-running phase, but did eventually lead to my 1974 BMW R75/6. (I put a stainless steel brake hose on that last night for increase stopping power and safety. Nice bike!)
There was the Infiniti G37 that we liked then hated, the BMW we lusted after and the Mini Cooper S we even put money down on. When that was the plan I listed my '05 Toyota Tundra for sale but didn't sell it. Had some calls, too, and the last several we just told them we weren't selling.
Now I think we are.
The last time I drove it to Suckton I got it home on fumes. And that was nearly three weeks ago and it's just sat in the driveway while we drive smaller, more fuel efficient cars. So selling it makes sense.
However, I do like a truck, and there are times a truck is a good thing to have. And careful readers also know I like a project.
So here's the latest motor vehicle plan: Sell the Toyota. Buy a 1960 to 1966 Chevy C10 like this one: 
Fix it up and have a truck and project all at once.
Looked at one down the street today. A 1964. Body's in great shape - a ding or two and a little surface rust, but not much more. The previous owner was a propane dealer and converted it to dual-fuel - gas and propane. The problem is that the engine in it was the low-powered straight 6 instead of the available 283 or 327 V8. The six made 140 hp when it was spanken' new, and the propane conversion takes at least 10 of that away. Age has probably take another 40 away, and there's just not enough to push that truck around.
My good friend Dave already has his friends and relatives on the lookout for a small block 327 or 350 that's just collecting dust in somebody's garage...
Oh, and I guess there is some carryover from car plan to car plan. My anticipated color scheme for said truck: British Racing Green with white wheels, white bumpers and a white hood. No bonnet stripes, though...

I like a useful project. That's a very cool one. Are you buying the one down the street and continuing to look for an engine, or are you still looking for perhaps a truck and engine all in one?

If I had better photoshop skills (and the program, now that I think of it) I'd doctor a picture to preview what I hope it to look like.
